Spiderman 2

Duuuuuuuuuuuude.

Wow.

Finally saw it a couple nights ago.  Very cool.  Very, very, very cool.

I wanna be Spiderman.  That would be awesome.

I had a few favorite moments ...

Spiderman riding an elevator.  That was hilarious.

The lady singing the theme song from the old tv show.  I was busting up.  Heather laughed, too, 'cause before seeing both movies (couple years ago, and this time around) I was singing that little ditty all the time.  I get as excited for a Spiderman movie as Micah does for an ice cream shop!

The look on Peter Parker's face when he wakes up on the subway and realizes his mask is off.  I also loved how the people all stood up for him.  But my favorite part in that scene was when the one guy says, "he's just a kid ..."  It was kinda cool, 'cause they had elevated him so high in their minds, and then they find out he's the same age as their kids.

Absolutely loved the look on Mary Jane's face when she saw Spiderman with the mask off.  Those few moments were some of her best ever.  Felt very real.

Which brings me to my gripe: was there anyone left in the movie who did NOT see Spiderman with the mask off?  Dude was pulling it off left and right!  I think the studio pushed for that ... originally, with the first movie they wanted to redesign the suit so there was no mask because they thought all the girl's would want to see Tobey's face.  The director had a royal fit ... that's a fundamental unchangeable thing about Spiderman!  Anyway, I'm suspicious that this time around he caved a little bit.  It did give Tobey the opportunity to pull off some great physical acting.

Geek alert!

I have finally accomplished a goal that has eluded me since 1987.  For many years, I didn't know if it was even possible to ever actually complete it, but a few years ago, thanks to the advent of DVD and the popularity of selling tv shows on DVD, I was finally able to pursue my goal with renewed vigor and focus.  And now, after three years of countless hours of dedication (actually, I can count them: 135 hours approximately), I have seen every single episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.  Woo-hoo!  I'm so happy.  It was such a cool show.

Now I'm about to start on another series:  Battlestar Galactica.  It was only out for one season (I will never count Battlestar Galactica: 1980 as a series, it was just TOO pathetic), so I only have 24 episodes to watch.  It'll probably only take me a couple months ... and then Smallville will be back with new episodes!  Yeah, baby!

I do have another herculean task I have been saving, though:  Star Trek Deep Space Nine.  Yup, the whole series.  All seven seasons.  I found some dude on Ebay selling the Chinese version of the dvds (no, they're not pirated), but they're still in English with the option of Chinese subtitles.  And the boxes are in Chinese, which is kinda cool.  Anyway, I always loved that series, but I missed a couple seasons while I was in college, etc., so when I found this guy selling them for about the cost of one season of the American edition ... well, I got a lot of Chinese sitting on my shelf now.  I'm looking forward to watching them, but man, that's another 135 hours worth of Star Trek ... it's gonna take a LONG time to get through it!

Coolest sci-fi show to ever get cancelled:  Firefly.  Man, that show was ahead of its time.  No sound in space.  No aliens.  Incredibly believable characters.  Very, very cool.  Thankfully, even though it was cancelled after only 11 episodes, the dvd sales (which includes three unaired episodes) have been through the roof (because it's awesome), so they are actually making a movie!  My dream come true would be if the movie spins off into the resurrection of the tv show ...

Another cool sci-fi show cancelled after only a few episodes:  Harsh Realms.  Wow.  I was bummed when that went off the air after only half a dozen episodes.  Was VERRRRRY cool.  Kinda like the Matrix, but kinda more believable in a way ...

My sister's wedding

Wow ... my baby sister got married! It was a beautiful wedding, and I even got to be a part of it. I officiated for the first part of the wedding, so my dad could walk Ruth down the aisle, then, once he had given her away, I stepped down and he took over. The funniest part was Micah being a ring bearer ... the poor kid looked so confused while he walked down the aisle. Thankfully, Heather was one of the 17,000 bridesmaids, so he stood with her during the rest of the wedding. The reception was really nice, too. We had it out at Spruce Point, which was awesome. The food was great, there were tons of people, and the weather was wonderful. All in all, a good day. Thankfully, it's over! Man, I was pooped at the end of that weekend! The night before the wedding I was up until three am getting ready, and then I had to be up and at 'em before seven am the next morning. I was also preaching, so that was kinda fun (the wedding was on a Sunday).

Anyway, she's married. Logan's a good guy, so I'm cool with it. : )
