ARGH! Why can't Lucas leave Star Wars alone?

For crying out loud. This is just rediculous. Completely and totally rediculous.

Can't the man just leave well enough alone? I was annoyed with a lot of changes he made in the Star Wars trilogy when he rereleased it ... the new CGI just didn't blend well with the 70's puppets and costumes, y'know? But the one thing I liked was the end to Return of the Jedi. It conveyed that the galaxy was happy the emperor was overthrown, not just this little group on Endor. Which was cool.

Well, he changed it.

Now there are Gungans dancing around and I swear I heard Jar Jar scream "we-sa freeeeee!!!" And he deleted the original actor who played the dying Anikin Skywalker and replaced him with Hayden. WHY??? Why is Hayden in Jedi now??? Every other jedi who died and shows up (um, they're all pictured above) reappears in the same appearance they died in, not their younger days. When he died, he was a restored, good jedi, so he should have appeared old like the others. Or Lucas should have changed it all to a young Obi-Wan, young Yoda, etc. (thank heavens he didn't!). Sheesh. I'm so irritated ...

It wouldn't be so bad if he'd release two versions; the original, and his special editions. Then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Oh well ...

Mmmmmm .... caramel apple cider ....

Yeah, so I'm pretty pumped about hot caramel apple cider. Went all the way to the Moosehead Coffee Shop this morning JUST for that. And a cinnamon roll. And maybe to say hi to my mom. But mostly the cider. That's some awesome stuff. It's like drinking a caramel apple. Which, by the way, I bought a bunch of caramel so I could make caramel apples ... and then realized that I have the caramel, the popsicle sticks ... and no apples! Sheesh! Now how do you like 'dem apples?

The Six Flags trip was pretty darn cool. Liked it a lot. Went on some roller coasters. Sweeeet! Got my picture with Marvin the Martian, which was cool. Mister "I can conquer the universe" seemed kinda scared of the big guy who wanted a picture with him, though. That was kinda sad. Anyway, moving on. Skillet performed, which was crazy 'cause it was the weirdest concert lineup ever. They had John Reuben, a rapper who is cool. Then Skillet, a loud metal band, then Zoegirl - which is kinda girly-pop, and then finally Sonicflood, a worship band. So there were all these people that came for Zoegirl and Sonicflood and then got really mad when Skillet came out and were throwing their guitars around, wailing on the mics, people were crowd surfing, moshing, someone was waving a skillet around (for about two seconds, then security pounced). They were wild. Which was cool, but still a weird lineup.

Actually, Skillet's coming to Maine and I'm taking a group, so that should be really cool. Find out more about that at www.FireProofSheep.com

Whoa ... it's been a while ...

Wow, it's been a while since I posted. But I'm back, baby!

I can't believe it's September 11th. Went to soccer practice today; I'm helping with the YMCA kids soccer teams this year. Should be a lot of fun, although I haven't played in over a decade. Been a long time since high school! Sheesh ...

But it's kinda weird. Playing soccer. Eating at Blue Moon Cafe. Walking around like life's normal. Yet, for literally thousands, probably tens of thousands of Americans, today is a horribly painful reminder of the death of their family members only a few years ago. And meanwhile, we have the news talking about how Osama is still out and about. Nothing like hearing the guy who is responsible is still free to do his thing. Someday he will receive justice; it would just be a lot easier for those here on earth if some of it came a lot sooner. Oh well.

It's kind of easier to think about 9/11 in Maine. Yeah, it's hard up here, too, and it was a bad blow. But when it happened and we were living outside New York City ... every kid we knew and worked with had friends or family that were hit by it. People from our community who died in the attack. One of our teen's cousin was killed in one of the towers. What a nightmare.

I remember being mad that morning when I first got up and turned on the tv. It was my day off so I had slept in until after the towers got hit, but before they collapsed. I was mad 'cause most of our stations weren't coming in - we were in the broadcast radius of the twin towers broadcast antennas. Then I finally found a station that worked, and was shocked. Didn't seem real.

It's a poor reflection on our society that everyone's reaction was that it seemed like a movie. Are we that wrapped up in entertainment? I remember being told that I needed to watch such and such channel because they had the best footage with the biggest explosion.

Now we don't even see it anymore. We see images of those we are pursueing and our population grows angry that we are after them. Maybe if we saw the photos and videos, heard the screams and agony, relived the horror, than maybe we would remember why this pursuit is important. Their blood cries out for justice.

They actually said that? Wow ...
